Dr. Shawn Hofkes

Dr. Hofkes graduated from the University of Southern California, Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, top of his class and on the Dean’s Honor list every year. He completed his internship in oral surgery at USC-LAC Medical Center, now the Los Angeles General Medical Center. Dr. Hofkes received advanced training in oral surgery and dental implants at the Global Institute for Dental Education and continues to expand his implantology skills through the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Hofkes established his practice in 2014 with the aspiration and vision to create a forward-thinking, modern, and patient-centric practice where every patient is treated like family. He is committed to publishing research in oral medicine and dentistry, with articles in The Journal of the American Dental Association and the Journal of Radiology.

Dental Implants

Inserted directly into your jawbone in a predetermined location, the biocompatible implant post-fuses with the underlying bone. The implant post functions like a natural tooth root to solidly support a single crown, bridge, or full mouth prosthesis. Full Mouth Dental Implants

With the All-on-4 implant procedure, most patients don’t require bone grafting. As the name implies, the All-on-4 protocol relies on at least four strategically placed dental implants per arch. The posterior (back) implants are angled to increase the natural support of your jawbone. This streamlined protocol also enables placing a temporary full mouth prosthesis on the same day as surgery.

Zygomatic Dental Implants

Zygomatic implants are an option if the bone in your upper jaw isn’t dense enough, even with bone grafting, to support traditional implants. Zygomatic implants are much longer than their conventional counterparts because they’re placed in the zygoma bone (cheekbones). Zygomatic implants are considered a more complex procedure than traditional dental implants. A comprehensive evaluation by an experienced oral surgeon or implant specialist is necessary to determine if zygomatic implants are the right option.

General Anesthesia

General anesthesia is a specialized form of sedation used during surgical procedures to ensure patients are completely unconscious and pain-free. Dr. Hofkes administers medications that induce deep and dreamless sleep, allowing you to relax completely and comfortably. This approach is typically reserved for complex surgeries, ensuring patient comfort and allowing surgical teams to perform intricate procedures with precision and safety.
